I never thought you'd be a junkie because heroin is so passé

I haven't written an LJ entry in so long that I'm going to align my paragraphing to the right.

Today was our first day of make up in The Crucible. Because it's stage make up we had to go two shades darker and Brittany did my make up and poked me in the eye because I wouldn't close it. Brittany's evil.

But in other Crucible news: I miss two days of school for it. Monday and Tuesday are devoted entirely to practicing, then on Tuesday some schools come in and watch us and we're filmed. Also on Monday and Tuesday lunchtime we get to go around and promote The Crucible. I plan on going up to people and shouting at them (ie. if I saw Milly) "I SAW GOODY DOLE WITH THE DEVIL!!"

John Proctor smells sooo good...

Today's Latin lesson was so fun! All the people who take Biology are away on camp today, so in Latin Mr. Burney brought us Milo and we had to ninja sneak along the corridor to fill our cups up with water. The sneaking was ruined though, when a Chem class came out and said they wanted Milo, and the teachers were looking at us weirdly. AND MR. BURNEY BROUGHT US PAIN AU CHOCOLAT. IT WAS SO GOOD.

And we watched insane videos on Caligula and Nero. They used weird phrases like 'Evilly suggestive caresses' and 'Nero's thin, husky voice rang out across the arena'. It was great. But Mr. Burney told us we'd see Andy, the Poster Boy for Latin, and we didn't. That made me sad.

In other, more Crucible-y news:

scott's package.

I carry you to your bed like a boat across the water

I'm sick.

On Thursday? I was in the library, had just grabbed some books to read and I sat down and looked up and there was Bonnie in the British poetry section. So we went to the art gallery so we could be pretentious and cool. And because our bags were heavy and Bonnie wanted to eat her lunch. In the art gallery we were immediately distracted by the modern Maori cloaks and how fugly they were. We really wanted to touch them but didn't. Then we went upstairs (braving the terrifying picture stairs) and found this children's art detective activity room or something. We wanted to do the art detective thing but none of the pencils were sharp. So instead we used the magnets on the magnetic wall to spell out our names. Then we were taking a picture with Bonnie's cellphone, and the art gallery attendant man came in (HE WAS SO INCREDIBLY GAY, IN THE LITERAL SENSE) and he said "You're not really supposed to be using your camera, but I'll allow it. The way I see it, it's your art and you own the copyright to it. But don't stand there too long, there's a security camera right in front of you." And we stayed in the art gallery until it closed.

On Friday night it was MOVIE NIGHT!! At Holly's house. We watched Slither at Myren's insistence, but it was gross and why was the baby holding a tomato? Seriously, no explanation, it was just there, holding a tomato. Then because Rosa didn't want to watch Reservoir Dogs we went to the DVD store and got Cube 2: Hypercube, American Pie, My Girl, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Sixteen Candles. We watched American Pie then An American Werewolf in London, then Harry Potter. But we got bored halfway through and Daniela and I started wrestling. She's such a fucking pansy, I pinned her a gazillion times. And how come Harry Potter is so long? We were fighting for about 4 hours. Then My Girl. It's so sad, I fell asleep.

Then I had Crucible practice for 6 hours. I'm not kidding.

The reason I'm pointing is 'cause Milly couldn't figure out how to take the picture and Celebrity Skin was on, and I keep saying "I KNOW THIS SONG! I KNOW THIS SONG!!"

Baby boy can't lift his headache head, isn't it tragic?

School has been the shizz this week.

Classics - Miss McDowell. Managed to freak out the whole class with 30 seconds of talking "My partner died and I have a new one." While she moved on with other stuff about herself, Lucy and I sat there wondering where to look.
Latin - Gah this looks ridiculously hard but I got Daniela in trouble because I revealed to Mr. Burney when she was 'sick' at the Cena Romana last year she was actually at Burger King/Merivale Mall with Gen-Gen. And Mr. Burney gave us Document Wallets and Bull Clips. Then he told us we wouldn't need our 2B8 books this year, so the first time I've ever gone to effort in covering my books, I don't need them.
IT - Today = Best Lesson EVAH. No one has internet yet, so our teacher (forgotten her name but she's peppy and rather like a kindergarten teacher) told us that we needed to decorate the box our Document Wallets will be held in. Milly and Ella and I took this as an excuse to put pictures of manga and movies we like on it.
English - Wide Reading sounds like the stupidest thing ever. I'm not allowed to read Garth Nix because his books 'are directed at a younger audience.' But the list of authors we're not allowed to read didn't say we couldn't read Marjane Satrapi OR graphic novels, so I'm going to re-read Persepolis and take down the man!! Oh and those bitches (actually I'm quite ambivalent towards them) Claire and Lydia stole my seat so I couldn't sit with Della and Gen-Gen.
Maths - Once again, neither Gen-Gen nor I had our calculators. So we did nothing. Well I drew some probability trees and that was it.
Theatre Studies - We watched the Girls' and Boys' High production of My Fair Lady while Mrs. Officer talked to people outside the class. It was boring. But OK.

I love Classics.

School yesterday, and I'm actually excited about this year. That's how good my form class is.

We have Mr. Weakley as our form and English teacher (he's so good, Bonnie cried when she found out she didn't have him), and in my class are Della, Gattey and, for the second year in a row, GEN-GEN!! So that means another whole year of jokes about anal, anime porn, and sex in general. And we get to be in the same English class again.

The only thing I'm a teensy bit worried about is that Della and Gen-Gen broke up yesterday. Della was really upset in assembly, because I think Gen-Gen did it in a bit of a dicky way. Then again, Della broke up with Myren shitfully, so Gen-Gen breaking up with Della for no reason at all is kinda like karma. But still, it's horrible for Della. She was taking it pretty well today though.

I'm spending tomorrow driving down to Dunedin, going to a Memorial service and driving back. I don't want to but Harriet's guilted me into it. I don't want to go because it will be so, so sad, and there's no way you can't think about death. So starting school the day after will be peachy, too.

And proving, once again, no one ever invites me anywhere except birthday parties, no one asked me if I was going to Sparks. Not that I even really wanted to go, but it would have been nice to have been invited. Hell, if someone had even been interested in what I was doing it would have been nice.

Let's play this game called 'When you catch fire' I wouldn't piss to put you out

Sooo...

Harriet had Strep throat in the last two weeks or so. Seeing as I didn't spend much time around her during the days when she was 'highly contagious' I thought I'd be fine. But no. On Sunday night I felt a little tickle in my throat; I thought it was going to end up being a cold, but on Monday my throat felt worse (not too bad though - well enough that I went to Milly's house, saw the cutest, most ridiculously tiny kitten in the whole and then we went to see Borat) and I was all shaky and felt a little like I was about to pass out. Tuesday I felt shit but had to go for my Restricted test. It made me want to cry but I passed. The testing man was horrible.

Then last night (which was still Tuesday) I felt so crap that Mum took me to the Emergency 24 Hour Pharmacy Doctor place and he gave me Penicillin and Ibuprofen (which he said would be Nurofen, but he lied). And I don't know if it was because I'm allergic to Penicillin (which we don't think I am), or because I had too many drugs in my system, or because I hadn't eaten anything at all that day, but I threw up. Four times. And by the fourth time there wasn't anything in my stomach so I was just dry gagging. Which is not pleasant.

And now, after all my fucking effort of organising Della's party I might not even be able to go because I'm so sick. I feel a little better today, but I'm really not sure if I'll be OK by Friday. So everything's just great.

Okay, what the fuck. It was Rubie's birthday party last night (and still is this morning. I got around six hours of sleep, Rosie, Rosa and Bonnie even less as they went to the beach at 4.30 a.m.) We watched three of the most bizarre movies EVAH.

The Doom Generation: Supposedly this sexual thriller or something, a couple called Amy and Jordan met up with this guy called Xavier, but all these people kept thinking Amy was someone they knew, and so everyone tried to kill her. And throughout the duration of this thin plotline, Amy lost her virginity to Xavier, Jordan to Amy, and while we were promised gay sex the closest it came to was a three-way. Then Jordan died because white supremacists who were in love with Amy cut off his erect penis. "Suck my fuck." "Anus-face!"
'"You're ah, giving me an erection"
"You're repugnant!"'

Nowhere: By the same director as The Doom Generation and starring Frank the bunny from Donnie Darko as Dark (he was also Jordan in TDG), some weird kid. And he had weird friends. I didn't really understand anything about it, but Dark kept seeing this godzilla-type alien vaporizing people and he freaked out. He was also in the shower thinking about nearly kissing his gay classmate Montgomery. Except I think that was a dream. I really couldn't tell. THEN all this stuff happened with all these people I wasn't interested in that I could tell you about but won't. The exciting thing that happened was, Montgomery, the most adowable boy in the world, who had been vaporized by the alien, went over to Dark's house and was all "I got abducted, they did tests on me. I'm not gay but I love you. You're perfect." And then Dark kissed him on the forehead, and Montgomery said "Do you mind if I sleep here tonight? I just really want to sleep next to you." and Dark said "Only if you promise never to leave." AWAAAH!! Then Montgomery started choking, and Dark screamed "MONTGOMERY! TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG!! MOONNTTGGOOMMEERRYY!!!!" and then Montgomery turned into an alien bug. And that was the end of the movie.

Coming of Age: Vince's weird porn. It was just weird. It got boring, every time someone had sex you'd think "Man, this is like an advertisement for why NOT to have sex!" They all looked so uncomfortable, and this one woman kept going "Nyeh, nyeh!" And Russell...Just, oh god. He was the unattractive 60 year-old one. It was terrifying.

I'm two quarters and a heart down, and I don't wanna forget how your voice sounds

Review of Big Day Out 2007

Afra and Incredible Beatbox Band
These guys were Japanese beatboxers. They were good; it was amazing that the sounds they made weren't made by special instruments.

Minuit
First band I saw. They were really good and dancy - I wished I'd danced more. They played in the Boiler Room so it got really hot, and Elsie wanted to leave to see...

Voom
I don't remember what they were like at all.

Die! Die! Die!
Good but loud. I thought I was about to pass out from the loudness.

The Tutts
The crowd was much huger than I thought, so I didn't see them at all. But I heard K and it was good. It sounded exactly like the recorded version.

David Kilgour and the Heavy Eights
Saw them with Elsie; couldn't think of anything except my incredibly empty stomach.

The Vines
I left before they played songs that I knew, but they were entertaining and played their instruments well.

My Chemical Romance
SOOO CUTE! Gerard's hair was black again and he did this weird little chicken dance thing during an instrumental bit, then went over to a band member and felt him up. Also before they played Welcome to the Black Parade:
Gerard: "This song is about cancer."
Crowd: "YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

Lily Allen
This was one of my favourite performances. Rosie, Rubie and I decided to go on a whim, and we pushed our way through the crowd in the boiler room to really close to the front. She was a lot more ska than I expected, and I love ska, so we danced those 45 minutes that she was playing away! She was also funny: (To a man who threw a beach ball at her onstage) "You're not supposed to throw that at me ya cunt!", (To a man sticking his tongue out at her in a sexual manner): "You sticking your tongue out doesn't make me want you, it makes me think you're a prick!" and
Lily Allen: "Are you all trashed?"
Crowd: "YESSSSS!!!!"
Lily Allen: "I'm not. I've been sober for 15 weeks. It's fucking awful."

Jet
Wasn't paying attention.

Scribe
Who ate all the fucking pies.

The Killers
And here's where my day gets crushed. Literally. Rubie and I decided, hey, we wanna push our way to the front of The Killers. It wasn't too hard with Lily Allen, we just need two people; one to push, the other to apologise. THEN we realised that it wasn't a simple matter of getting into the crowd and pushing - there was a barrier entrance to the mosh pit, that had red and green lights telling you whether or not you could get in. We made our way to the front of the line waiting to get into the barrier, and then some smart ass up the back thought You know what will get me to the front of this line quicker? If I push. Problem was, people at the back were pushing, but there was no place for the people up the front to be pushed. I was leaning forwards so much that if there hadn't been someone in front of me I would have fallen over. Rubie lifted her legs in the air at one point and was suspended by the crush of other people. Finally the security guards told us no one else was going in; the crowd tried to push backwards and failed miserably, then I got seperated from Rubie and had to push my way through a vast throng of people. By the time I got back to Becky I was hyperventilating and nearly in tears. The only reason I didn't start crying was it occurred to me I would look terrible if I did. I managed to watch most of their set (unfortunately missing out on Sam's Town) in safety from the stands. Bones was great; Rosie has a film of me and Lucy acting out actions to it.

Muse
Amazing. That...guy, you know, the lead singer, yeah, him. He was wonderful. He did all these cool things with his guitar, almost like Peter Frampton but without the whole 'talking guitar' thing. They only played two songs that I didn't know so that made me happy, as I could sing along loudly and obnoxiously.

Tool
I didn't even stay for them because they were 20 minutes late and no matter what anyone said, bands shouldn't do that to their fans.

John Butler Trio
I didn't want to see them but I was waiting for the Violent Femmes so I sorta had to. It was pitch dark by that time and the area I was sitting in was surrounded by disgusting middle-aged people dancing crappily and smoking pot. Then when that song that everyone knows came on, they all swarmed into the mosh pit and danced even more crappily.

Violent Femmes
I had had such high hopes for this, but by this time I was angry and moody and stuck alone five people from the front of the stage, surrounded on one side by high middle-aged people with dilated pupils and on the other side by tweens who only knew Blister in the Sun but pretended they knew more. I nearly punched this guy in front of me; I think I remember him from last year. He had a fucking ear piercing whistle that he just had to use every five fucking seconds. Then I had a breakdown, found Becky and left. And McDonald's wasn't serving people.

But all in all, you know, it was brilliant.

'Cause I built you a home in my heart with rotten wood and it decayed from the start

I saw Babel last night, because in a sort of pre-Golden Globes frenzy we're going to all the movie that are nominated.

It followed four interlocking stories, starting with...
1. Yussef and Ahmed, two Morroccan children whose father was sold a gun to protect his goats from jackals. Whilst trying to see how far the gun would shoot, they shot at an American tour bus, inadvertently hitting...

2. Susan (Cate Blanchett), on holiday with her husband Richard (Brad Pitt). The nearest hospital was an hour and a half away, so they take Susan to a nearby village, where they have to wait for an ambulance and a helicopter to take Susan to a proper hospital. Meanwhile, their children...

3. Debbie and Mike, back in America, are taken to Mexico by their nanny because she couldn't find anyone to take care of them during her son's wedding. Her nephew, Santiago (Gael García Bernal) takes them back to San Diego that night, but at the border he freaks out and makes a run for it, abandoning the children and Amelia the nanny in the desert. As we go back and forth between these stories we learn that Yussef and Ahmed's gun originally came from...

4. The father of a deaf-mute Japanese girl, whose mother committed suicide some time ago. The girl, Chieko, is going through a sort of emotional breakdown; when she realises boys her age treat her like a monster because she cannot hear or talk, she goes a little crazy and does scandalous things like taking off her panties in the JPop and trying to seduce both her dentist and a cop who comes to talk to her father about his gun.

Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt definitely won't win Best Actor globes for their roles, because in total they were both in it for about 20 minutes.

Are you watching closely?

WELL!

For New Year's I watched The Brothers Grimm alone. It was ridiculously scary. Then I had to sleep downstairs alone, and I played Thirteen Tale from Urban Bohemia too loud and couldn't sleep. I'd fall asleep, then when the CD went onto repeat I'd always wake up when Horse Pills was playing. I was too stupid to take it off repeat.

In the past week I have seen:
The Queen
The Prestige
Marie Antoinette

And I liked all three, but the last two the best. I think Helen Mirren will probably get an Oscar nomination for The Queen. Yesterday after we took Hannah to the airport we went to Travis Swamp and went for a walk, and I found out that I missed Becky by about 10 minutes. We even saw the same cat! It was freaky.

Oh and I've decided I don't like Star Wars: A New Hope. In the first hour, nothing happens, but we do get to see Mark Hamill's ugly mug a lot.

Okaaaaaaaaay...

The USAFIS (something abou the Green Card Lottery) is incredibly creepy. My sister went to their website, and started to fill out a Green Card application form, but when it asked for her credit card number, she exited the page...
Yet somehow they know our phone number, which she typed in on the application (BUT DID NOT SUBMIT!) So they just called her, asking why she wanted (or in her case did not want) to get a Green Card. And then, after she'd dealt with that, she opted to be taken off their mailing list. And they just called her again. I said she was out though, and then they asked if she had a cell phone, and I said no, and then they asked who I was. I told them I was her sister. WHAT did they want with my name?!?

In other news, went to the doctor about my faintness. I have low blood pressure (something about 90/40...What does that mean?) and if I stand up too quickly it drops even more. So everything's good! I just need to move my legs before I stand up.

I've been reading about everyone's great buys during the Christmas sales and now I want something incredibly cool, incredibly cheap. I don't think that's gonna happen any time soon.

It's got a butterfly conservatory!

Hannah put her pretentious hat on for this one; as we left she commented "Didn't you find that offensive?" because the Neanderthals said things like 'Ooga Booga.' Jesus! If you looked up 'pretentious' in the dictionary there'd be a picture of Hannah's face.

OH. MY. GOD. WHY didn't I know about the Disney Princess website? It's got Activities and Fun Facts for each Disney Princess! But how the fuck are Mulan and Pocahontas princesses? Let's see: Ariel was the daughter of the King of the Ocean. Cinderella married the prince. Snow White married the prince. Belle married the prince (the Beast). Jasmine was the daughter of the Sultan. Aurora was the secret child of the King and Queen. Mulan was the daughter of some poor guy. Pocahontas was...Well, I suppose you could call her a princess 'cause she was the daughter of the chief of her tribe. Or whatever.

www.disneyprincess.com (will reroute you to the actual site, or it did on my computer)

Char-Char hates being picked up. He's OK for about two seconds, then gets all antsy and freaks out and tries to twist his way out of your arms.

Char-Char and Sim-chan had their first introduction today! The first time they met, they touched noses and I thought that this was the start of a beautiful friendship. Then Simpkin ran under a chair and kept on growling and hissing at Char-Char. I think Char-Char has truly taken on the role of younger brother; he keeps chasing after Simpkin and annoying him while he's in his basket. I'd say he's evil but you can't be mad at his face.

The Zebedee's Christmas Party was a bust (and after I'd spent so much time talking it up.) Although I suppose I did spend some quality time with Milly and Gini. I knew three people there: Myren, Milly and Gini, and at one point it was more interesting for Myren and I to walk down to Shell in the freezing 9°C wind and buy one Chupa-Chup than stay and listen to Slack Alice. Not that they were bad, they just didn't play any songs that I:

A) knew, and B) liked.

But the annoying thing was I had told about ten people to come, and none of them did (except Milly and Gini - I love you eternally.) When Myren texted Lucy she made up excuses, and we finally left her alone. I don't know what happened to everyone else. Then I got sulky and refused to go to the Ho Ho Hodown.

I finished FAKE and now I'm upset. In the final volume, which was marked with a PARENTAL ADVISORY: EXPLICIT CONTENT and had gained an M (suitable for ages 18+) rating rather than an OT (suitable for ages 16+) rating, I kept thinking 'Heck, this is hardly explicit! They had sex once. THEN in the final chapter, which I thought was going to be about minor characters because it had the minor characters on the cover, it was all suggestive hands and positions.

Well I could sleep forever, but it's of her I'd dream

Sleeping is good. I am so sleepy. I have been at Lucy's house since six and it is now almost midnight. We've been watching Clerks and Clerks 2 and Daniela and Bonnie only just went home. This entry...

Sooooo sleepy.

FAKE is so good. It's brilliant and they're guys and they kiss a lot. It reminds me a little of Petshop of Horrors for some reason. I think because each story is standalone, and because they're cops.

So when your new eyes meet mine they won't see no lies, just love

I got into Re-Draft for the second time!! I am soooo happy!! Here is the poem that got in:

the mermaid

the bath echoes
with the mermaid’s
heavy heartbeat
and her golden hair
stains the water
yellow.
with every flutter
of her fish’s tail
silver scales flake
into the bath tub.
i know that to survive
my mermaid
needs her salty ocean
but i’m not so sure
i want to let her go yet.

The weird thing is, I wrote that while stressing in about 2 days. And it's some of my best work! Apparently, I work well under pressure.

I have decided to buy some Elliott Smith CDs. Because I have music vouchers. And I like Elliott Smith.

1. Roman Candle
2. Elliott Smith
3. Either/Or
4. XO
5. Figure 8
6. From a Basment on the Hill

Really, that isn't as many as I thought there were from the list of lyrics on a website I was looking at. I wonder if the library has any...
